How to Integrate Datadog with Slack

Share a dashboard during an incident resolution or post graphs as you work through an issue in your retro

When something goes wrong in your app, you have to move fast to handle the issue—but once the fire is out, you’ll need to take a deeper look to make sure the issue doesn’t happen again.

Datadog not only monitors your apps and infrastructure, but it provides crucial insight in the form of graphs and logs. Whether it’s sharing a dashboard during an incident resolution or posting graphs as you work through the issue in your retro, the Datadog/Slack integration gives your team the ability to bring that important data into the environment where they’re already collaborating.

What you’ll need

  • Admin or Standard role permissions for your Datadog account (unless your organization has created custom roles)

Install the Slack App Directory integration

Log in to Datadog and navigate to the “Integrations” category on the left sidebar:

Configure the Slack webhooks integration

You only need to configure webhooks if you are using US5 or US1-FED. US1, US3, and EU1 sites only need the integration installed.

In the Datadog app in Slack, click Install. Then click Add Integration:

Click Add Account.

Add the name of your Slack account and paste the webhook URL copied from Slack in the Slack Account Hook blank.

Click Save.
